I work under the business name elementals… as a Shiatsu Practitioner, Holistic Design Consultant and supplier of eco-friendly products within the Perth and Edinburgh areas. I qualified with a BA Honours in Interior Design in 1988 and spent many years working as an Interior Designer in Edinburgh before looking for a more ‘therapeutic’ approach to my work in the late 1990’s. I started to see how unhealthy, environmentally damaging and uninspiring interior environments had become and searched for a course which combined functionality with a more spiritual and environmentally conscious approach.
I found the perfect course at the Holistic Design Institute in Devon and graduated in Holistic Interior Design in 2002. Over the last few years this training has been upgraded with various seminars and a visit to CAT in Wales to undertake the Whole House Course in eco-design. Also around this time, I felt a need to learn hands on healing and after much deliberating (and experiencing its effects in action), I undertook Shiatsu training at The Glasgow School of Shiatsu. I’ve had great results with this wonderful therapy, especially with chronic pain relief, and it’s still my favourite therapy, both to give and to receive. I also trained in Reiki 1 & 2, Se-Kei with Akinobu Kishi Sensei, Table Shiatsu (techniques for working on a massage couch) and various other courses and seminars on alternative themes.
Services I provide
A mobile Shiatsu service which allows clients to receive their treatments within their own home. All you need is some free floor space and an hour of free time. Treatments can take place on either a Futon or chair dependant on the fitness levels of the client. Alternatively, sessions can also be carried out within my own therapy space in Perth. I also provide a Holistic Interior Design consultancy for both commercial and domestic customers to help them to address a variety of ‘holistic design’ issues within their home or workplace.
These range from ‘greening up’ your interior or removing blockages in your life to simply rebalancing your interior environment so it reflects your current needs. I’ve worked on a variety of schemes from staff restaurants, therapy rooms and break-out spaces to full commercial and domestic designs. The service is tailored to the individual so please get in touch if you wish to discuss further. Training sessions in Therapeutic Interiors are planned for early 2006.
